Congregational Connection

StepALIVE! is just around the corner and we are almost halfway to our goal of raising $80,000 to support our Alexandria neighbors in need. Thank you to the 33 teams who have already signed up to participate in this year’s walkathon, and to our generous sponsors for contributing to this day of action!

Please help us to spread the word about this event by creating a congregational team of your own and inviting others to join you. All participants will receive a 2022 StepALIVE! t-shirt and are invited to join us for the 2pm kickoff and post-walk celebration at First Christian Church.

ALIVE! Congregational Representatives Carlton Willis from Alfred Street Baptist Church and Jean Hartman Moore from Agudas Achim Congregation have a few tips for building your StepALIVE! walkathon team. To register for the October 16th walkathon, to start a team, or to make a contribution visit stepalive.org.

Trunk or Treat with ALIVE! Congregations

ALIVE! is inviting member congregations to participate in an ALIVE! Trunk or Treat at Northern Virginia Community College on Saturday, October 29 from 1pm-3pm.

Originally started by church groups with the aim of providing a safer environment for trick-or-treaters on Halloween, Trunk or Treat involves a community coming together, so that children can trick-or-treat out of the decorated trunks of their cars. This Trunk or Treat is sponsored by the ALIVE! member congregations is open to all children and youth.

This is a fun way to encourage interfaith and social interaction and have a good time while spreading the news about how we all work together to serve our neighbors in need. This event is being organized by Carlton Willis, the ALIVE! Congregational Representative from Alfred Street Baptist.

Please review the available slots and enter the name of your congregation to sign up for one or more trunk spaces in parking lot B-1 of the Northern Virginia Community College – Alexandria Campus on October 29th. Setup time is 11:30am – 1pm. The event will be held from 1pm – 3pm, with cleanup ending at 3pm. If you have any questions, please email cwillis@alfredstreet.org.
