Housewares Program

ALIVE! Housewares Program proudly accepts donations in good condition from the following list of items*

bath rugs & mats mixing bowls
bath towels & washcloths pillows & cases
blankets plates, dishes, bowls
blenders potholders
coffee makers pots, pans, skillets
cooking utensils serving plates, bowls
crockpots sheets (all sizes)
flatware storage containers
glasses, cups, mugs strainers
juicers tea kettles
kitchen knives throw rugs (not area rugs)
kitchen towels & washcloths toasters
measuring cups, spoons trash cans (small to medium)
microwave ovens vacuum cleaners

*Donations of other items are not accepted and volunteers decide on-site whether a donation can be accepted. Please do not bring broken, torn, or damaged items.

These items are selected by volunteers and sent to people in Alexandria who may be in their first home, transitioning from homelessness, or unable to afford basic household items.

Collection

Housewares donations will be accepted as needed on drive-through collection days at the parking lot of Fairlington United Methodist Church (3900 King Street).

Donations may be dropped off at the front desk at Sunrise Senior Living of Old Town (400 N. Washington Street) 10AM-3PM daily. This site is selectively accepting items from the ALIVE! Housewares List of Accepted Donations – No appliances! Items must be in good condition. Donations of other items are not accepted, and Sunrise staff decide on-site whether a donation can be accepted

Referrals

To receive assistance, clients must be referred by the Alexandria Office of Community Services 703-746-5700, an ALIVE! member congregation, or another social service agency.
