Volunteer Appreciation

In April, we celebrated the contributions of the volunteer leaders who help to ensure that ALIVE! is able to provide a safety net for our Alexandria neighbors in need. Without the time, talent, and passion of our amazing volunteers ALIVE! wouldn’t be able to sustain the programs that provide food, rental assistance, and other basic needs.

As we continue to see the high need for food assistance in our community, more that 4,000 households each month, we are thankful to everyone who continues to volunteer. Thank you!

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive-  May 13

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the country’s largest one-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need. Simply leave donations of non-perishable food items next to your mailbox on Saturday, May 13. Letter carriers will collect these food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes, and distribute them to local food banks.

Amazingly, nearly 2% of all the food donated to ALIVE! throughout the year comes from this one food drive. That means we need a big team of volunteers to help receive these donations.

We are looking for volunteers to drive ALIVE! trucks to pick up donations, volunteers at 4 post office locations ready to load donations, and one team at the Bus Barn to unload the trucks.
