Join us for the Grand Opening Ceremony for ALIVE!’s New Food Hub

ALIVE! is excited to announce the Grand Opening of our second Food Hub on April 12th at 2601 Mount Vernon Ave. This new ALIVE! Food Hub is across from Mt. Vernon Community School and will offer residents of the City of Alexandria: food, personal items, cleaning supplies, school supplies, community, and information about other support services.

All are welcome to help us celebrate and join ALIVE!’s board members, Alexandria City Mayor Justin Wilson, and faith leaders for the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

ALIVE! Food Hub Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
April 12th 8:00am – 9:00am
2601 Mount Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301

Opening these Food Hubs will not mean the end of ALIVE!’s traditional methods of distribution. To reach as many food insecure Alexandrians as we can, our monthly food distributions events around Alexandria will continue, as will select neighborhood pop-ups and provision of food to various food pantries.

Early Giving for Spring2ACTion Starts April 12th

Thank you to The Episcopal Church of Saint Clement, and Fairlington United Methodist Church for creating fundraising pages on ALIVE!’s Spring2ACTion campaign.

This year, Spring2ACTion will take place on April 26th with early online giving starting on April 12th. We’ve set and ambitious goal of raising $80,000 to sustain the work we do to provide basic needs for our community.

There’s still plenty of time to create a fundraising page and help us highlight the accomplishments of ALIVE!, so if your congregation would like to hep us spread the word please visit: spring2action.org/organizations/alive4alexandria

Reserve You Congregation‘s Furniture Donation Day

We are opening up the calendar for any congregation that would like to reserve a Saturday to help with ALIVE!’s Furniture Program.

Thank you to all of the congregations who have already pitched in so far including Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Christ Church, Grace Episcopal Church, Old Presbyterian Meeting House, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and UUCA. Very special thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for agreeing to take the lead on every third Saturday for the rest of the year.

To participate, identify 4-5 volunteers and someone who can drive the ALIVE! truck. Volunteers pick up donated items that are clean and in good condition from Alexandria donors on Saturdays from 8am – 1pm and deliver donated furniture to a family in need that day. ALIVE! will provide you with a detailed schedule for where to pickup items and where to deliver.

If you’d like to be paired up with ALIVE! volunteers during your weekend just let us know and we will start recruiting for additional helpers.

If your congregation would like to reserve a date to join ALIVE!’s Saturday morning furniture program please contact us at kbach@alive-inc.org.

If you would like to stay updated on his progress, send well wishes, or learn about ways to help, please visit the CaringBridge that his family has created.
