At ALIVE!, we’re committed to preventing food insecurity, supporting safe and stable housing, bridging the gap with financial assistance, and providing client support and advocacy for thousands of families in Alexandria. Our programs help neighbors build stability, opportunity, and hope for the future.
The Need:
- 8% of households in Alexandria face food insecurity
- 9% of Alexandria residents live below the federal poverty line
- 44% of food-insecure individuals are not eligible for government assistance
We believe that a stronger community is built when every neighbor has access to food, housing, and critical support.
How You Can Help

Volunteer with ALIVE!

Last year, ALIVE! distributed 1.7 million meals worth of groceries, and half of all the food provided by ALIVE! comes from food drives or from community donations. By donating food, you help ALIVE! use its funds to purchase essential items like fresh produce, halal meat, eggs, and other nutritious foods that are often in high demand. Contributing financially helps ensure that ALIVE! has the resources to purchase items that aren’t covered through donations, and supports the logistical core that collects donations, stores items, and delivers groceries and other daily essentials to where they are needed the most.
