Ongoing Opportunities

√ Food Distribution for Low-Income Families in Alexandria

January–October Distributions occur the last Saturday of each month.
November No distribution due to special holiday deliveries.
December Second Saturday
Tasks ALIVE! food distribution Volunteers set up distribution areas at a scheduled time the day before the actual distribution. Includes setting up tables, unloading boxes of food from trucks. On day of distribution, volunteers register clients and bag groceries.

√ Food Delivery

When Monday–Friday; 3-hour shifts once a week or twice a month. Drivers' schedules vary
Tasks Deliver groceries to homebound families and individuals in need

Who Drivers/loaders — Load grocery bags in vehicles and deliver food.

√ Furniture Delivery

When Weekly—Saturdays mornings (2 or 3 Sunday afternoons during the year)
Tasks ALIVE! furniture pickup and deliveryField furniture donation and request calls and emails (check phone and email messages, call individuals, set up routes — roughly 1 hour a day for a week; rotation every 8 weeks or so. Drive furniture truck (once every 6–8 weeks on a rotation). Pick up and deliver furniture (any weekend available).

Who Individuals and groups. Those seeking community service hours are welcome.
Special Valid driver's license for truck drivers

√ ALIVE! House

When Flexible
Tasks ALIVE! HouseCoordinator and volunteers are needed to create and organize special and ongoing programming for the and/or adults at ALIVE! House or in the community. Includes coordinating transportation and childcare (if needed) for event and recruiting other volunteers to assist with events. Volunteers are also needed to help with administrative and clerical tasks and facilities management.
