StepALIVE! 2025 Recap

New Location. New Routes. Same Mission.

This year’s StepALIVE! Walkathon reminded us what our community looks like when it comes together during uncertain times. It was not only a fun event, but a powerful reminder of what we can do as one.

More than 350 neighbors joined us to walk through Del Ray and Old Town, raising awareness of the challenges of food access and housing instability — and celebrating our shared commitment to solving them together.

For the first time in its 44-year history, StepALIVE! raised over $125,000 to help Alexandrians facing instability.

What Your Steps Made Possible

Here’s what that impact looks like in real terms:

  • $25,000 to repair the HVAC system at one of our service locations

  • $10,000 to fuel furniture and food deliveries across the city

  • $40,000 in financial assistance for 54 families at risk of falling into crisis

  • $50,000 to provide a week’s worth of groceries to more than 5,000 families — about 20,000 people

At a time when many are feeling the strain of rising costs and uncertainty, this show of compassion means everything. Together, we ensure that when people need help, their neighbors are there.
