Child Development Center
ALIVE! Child Development Center is no longer in operation and will not open for enrollment during the 2020-21 School Year. The Center suspended operation in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic with anticipation of reopening. An intense review of the program’s operation will determine the future of the ALIVE! CDC as a child development center to serve the preschool age children of Alexandria. We are extremely grateful to the community for supporting the mission of ALIVE! and all the children who have experienced the joy of learning in our classrooms.
About the CDC
The ALIVE! Child Development Center (CDC) is a full-day, year-round nationally accredited early education and child care program for 3 to 5-year old children living in the city of Alexandria. Founded in 1972, ALIVE! Child Development Center’s mission is to provide high-quality, affordable early care and education to children in Alexandria’s low-income and working families. Together with our families, we strive to ensure that each child is well prepared to begin kindergarten.
Educational Programs
ALIVE! CDC is dedicated to providing positive learning experiences for children through active exploration of their world while maintaining a safe, healthy, and appropriate learning environment. ALIVE! CDC is a Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) Center, aligned with Alexandria City Public Schools, for 4-year old children with prekindergarten early learning curriculum based upon the Virginia Early Learning Foundations.
