About the CDC
The ALIVE! Child Development Center, (CDC), is a full-day, year-round nationally accredited early education and child care program for 3 to 5-year old children living in the city of Alexandria.
Founded in 1972, ALIVE! Child Development Center’s mission is to provide high-quality, affordable early care and education to children in Alexandria’s low-income and working families. Together with our families, we strive to ensure that each child is well prepared to begin kindergarten.
The CDC is open from 6:45 AM – 5:45 PM weekdays.
The ALIVE! CDC is dedicated to providing positive learning experiences for children through active exploration of their world while maintaining a safe, healthy and appropriate learning environment.
The ALIVE! CDC is a Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) Center, aligned with Alexandria City Public Schools, for 4-year-old children with prekindergarten early learning curriculum based upon the Virginia Early Learning Foundations.
ALIVE! provides tuition assistance on a sliding-fee scale based upon family income and size. Parents and/or guardians must be working at least 30 hours per week or attending educational or job-related training or school to qualify for assistance.
